The updated TATA HARRIER 2020

 The Tata Harrier, when it first rolled out in Jan-2019, with its massive entry, everyone was wowed to see Tata motors delivering a muscular and a handsome looking Harrier.

    All though from the very beginning only the car's sale were never high cloud touching, and after the Korean and the Chinese companies entering into the Indian market with their head turning and eye catching vehicles, the sales started gradually depreciating its sales.

    But now with all BS6 norms (Bharat Stage 6 norms), The Indian car maker Tata Motors got one more chance to press the petal hard and show others what the Indian car maker could do.

    Now lets see how hard did the Tata motors press the petal to win the race with the ALL NEW TATA HARRIER 2020.

So lets start with the Exterior design first

        From the exterior there is no noticeable change other than a 17'' diamond cut alloy wheels in only zx+ and zxa+ infact other than that, you will not be able to distinguish between the new one and the old one. All the dimensions are the same and infact position of all the bell and wissel are at the same place but the puddle lamp on the ORVM is removed in new Harrier and there are some small twigs that we will understand when we will sit inside, so lets go inside.

                                      

Interiors                                

From inside you can see a whole lots of changes if you go for the top most variant of the car that is (zx+ and zxa+). The features that are added, which you will notice first is the huge panoramic sunroof  with three different dedicated switches which makes it much more user friendly and convenient to use. The next big change is the all new 6 speed automatic gearbox which is a torque converter  (planetary gearbox) which is sourced from Hyundai which was used in old Hyundai Tuscon and it works phenomenally well in Harrier. There are few small twigs done inside the cabin to make it more splash and top notch, such as few ergonomic changes that is the position on the use port and the aux port in a better position to reach in. The ORVM (outer rear view mirror) has been redesigned in size (reduced) which were creating a huge blind spot. Rest all remains the same as the old Harrier 2019.        

                                      

lets jump to the engine and performance now

The Tata Harrier is equipped with a Kryotec 2.0 L turbocharged diesel engine, which was detuned in the older Harrier which used to give 140ps of power and 350 Nm torque, but the new Harrier is equipped with unbelievable 170ps of power and 350 Nm torque, which is now same as MG Hector and Jeep Compass. This 30 ps of power has made a noticeable change in the way the engine pulls this huge bulky Suv that will create a smile in your face. There are other changes too such as, in the older harrier customer used to complain about the NVH (noise vibration and harshness) levels which is significantly much lower in the new harrier, which makes the new Harrier drive smooth and sophisticated. All thanks to Tata Motors for listening to the costumer feedback. Few other changes are the smooth throw of the level in the manual gearbox and a light clutch, increases the joy of driving.

                                    

Now time for ride and handling

Tata Harrier was always superb in terms of ride and handling and the same is continued in the new ones. And few others changes like smooth throw of the level in the manual gearbox and a light clutch, increased the ease of driving. This has the best driving dynamics in its segment and all thanks goes to OMEGA ARC derived from the Land Rover's D8 platform. The type size is also huge that is 235/65/R17 which just glides over the bad roads just like a knife in a piece of cake.         

                             

Final Verdict

Should one go for the new Tata Harrier or not?

The new Harrier has a price hike of about 1-1.5 lakhs (on road) depending on the location you buy from as this is mainly because of the bs6 norms. The car also has a DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) which makes the car ready for bs6 stage two. Many million dollar automobile companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Nissan and Volkswagen has stopped making diesel cars in India because of the cost of making a diesel with bs6 norms became very high (and by the way this is the only car with DEF display in the instrument cluster). 

If you are the one looking for excellent handling, ride comfort, one of the safest cars (safety bring the major concern of Tata) and the best looking SUV (13.8 to 20.3 lakhs ex showroom) at this price point then this the is best one to invest your money in and other that its an Indian company that we believe too much in.
